SuperCycle SuperLaunch at Channel 9 Adelaide

Rabobank SuperCycle 2013 launched in style in late October with SuperCyclists, sponsors and supporters gathering at Channel 9 Adelaide for a cocktail event.

Guests were welcomed by Channel 9 General Manager Graeme Gilbertson who spoke of his personal passion for the sport, 9 Adelaide’s enthusiasm for cycling, and commended the philanthropic aspirations of the remarkable SuperCycle team.

SuperCycle Chairman Mark Day recounted fond memories from the inaugural SuperCycle event held earlier this year and encouraged guests to sign up and join the Rabobank SuperCycle peloton for the 2013 challenge.

Paul Flynn, CEO of The Hospital Research Foundation (THRF); SuperCycle’s charity partner, highlighted the important partnership between THRF and SuperCycle and their shared vision to build accommodation in Adelaide for country cancer patients. Many were moved by a touching video which featured Haematologist Dr James Gray, from The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (TQEH), and cancer patients Christina and Tony, who affirmed the importance of having access to patient accommodation close to the hospital. In emotional and honest interviews, Christina and Tony both expressed just how much having family-friendly accommodation would do to improve their time away from home while receiving treatment.

While the evening did have its serious side, the night was a fantastic opportunity for the inaugural SuperCycle team to come together, reminisce and inspire new riders. With drinks and delicious finger food circulating, the anticipation of Rabobank SuperCycle 2013 was evident.

We are all now eagerly looking forward to the 2013 event which is just over 5 months away! Please tell all your friends and family about the 2013 challenge- we want more riders and to raise even more money for this fantastic cause!

Sincere thanks to the team at Channel 9 Adelaide for hosting the Rabobank SuperCycle 2013 launch.
