“2017 was my third time riding Mercer SuperCycle. I have also participated in the two previous additions in 2015 and 2016.
This really is an event like no other, and this starts months before the ride with training and fundraising events. The best thing about Mercer SuperCycle is seeing direct results of the fundraising, how this impacts on cancer patients and hearing how the accommodation has changed their lives first hand.
The ride itself is a fantastic experience and there’s a real feeling of mate-ship among all the riders as everyone is working towards the one goal of getting each other safely to the end of the ride in Adelaide. Through the training and various events you start to build friendships and these are magnified during the actual ride and carry on well past the ride for years ahead.
Knowing the work that you’ve done on the bike has a direct benefit to cancer patients is a great feeling. Also, meeting people in the rural areas and talking about what we’re doing helps you get through the long days in the saddle.
If you’re considering participating in Mercer SuperCycle 2018, just do it! You will not be disappointed and you will be supported from the training to the actual ride itself. The whole experience from the moment you start training to the time you ride into Adelaide will not be forgotten. You will be able to share this with friends and family for years.
In the end, its great to be able to help others in a meaningful way and make a difference to people’s lives.”
